Warranty
At Tar River Timber Works, we take pride in crafting high-quality timber products built to last. Because our materials are natural and our products are often integrated into permanent structures, our warranty is designed to cover true defects—not the normal characteristics of solid wood.
One-Year Limited Warranty
We warrant our products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for one (1) year from the date of delivery.
During this period, if you believe your product has a defect, please contact us. We will review the situation and determine an appropriate solution, which may include repair, replacement, or another reasonable remedy.
All warranty evaluations are handled on a case-by-case basis.
What Is Not Considered a Defect
Because our products are made from real, natural timber, certain characteristics are expected and not covered under this warranty. These include:
Normal Wood Movement
Wood is hygroscopic—it naturally absorbs and releases moisture. As it adjusts to its environment, movement can occur, including:
- Checking (surface cracks from drying)
- Small splits or surface openings
- Seasonal swelling or shrinking
- Variations in grain, texture, or color
These features are part of how solid wood behaves and do not affect structural integrity. They are not considered defects.
Environmental Conditions
Issues resulting from site conditions, storage, installation, or exposure to weather—such as excessive moisture, improper sealing, or inadequate airflow—are not covered under this warranty.
Modifications & Misuse
Any alteration, improper installation, or use outside the intended purpose voids the warranty.
How to Submit a Warranty Inquiry
If you believe your product has a defect covered under this warranty, email us at sales@tarriver.com with:
- Your order number
- Photos of the item and the issue
- A brief description of your concern
We will review your submission and respond with next steps.
Our Commitment
Timber is a natural material, and its authenticity is part of its beauty. While we cannot guarantee that wood will remain unchanged over time, we can promise that if an actual defect arises, we will work with you to make it right.
